Atlanta Falcons at New York Jets - 8/22/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Atlanta Falcons will play the New York Jets in Week Two of the NFL Preseason at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Monday night.
The Atlanta Falcons are 1-0 this preseason after they defeated the Detroit Lions by a score of 27-23 in their first game. This was a back and forth game where both teams had the lead multiple times, but Atlanta was able to score a touchdown on fourth down with 1:30 left in regulation for the win. The Falcons are expected to go with Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder at the quarterback position in this game.
The New York Jets are 1-0 this preseason after they beat the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 24-21 last week. New York fell behind early in the first quarter, but was able to score 14 points in the fourth quarter for the win. Zach Wilson injured his knee in this game and will be unavailable for at least the rest of the preseason. New York is expected to start with Joe Flacco at quarterback, then Mike White and Chris Streveler will take over.
Atlanta is 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games. The under is 4-1 in Atlanta’s last 5 road games. The over is 6-2 in New York’s last 8 home games. And the over is 10-4 in New York’s last 14 games. The over is 4-1 in these two teams last 5 head to head meetings.
Both of these teams played higher scoring games in Week 1 and both were able to pull out a victory. New York may be reserved with their starters after Zach Wilson was hurt last week, but the starters should play at least for a little bit. Desmond Ridder looked pretty good in Week 1 with his arm and with his legs, but did complete less than 50% of his passes. For New York, there are some questions at the quarterback spot with Wilson not available. Will Flacco play? Can Mike White and Chris Streveler continue to play well? I like the Falcons to win this game by at least a field goal.
