The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams face off on Friday in a Week 2 NFL preseason game at SoFi Stadium. When these two teams faced off in October of 2021 it was the Rams that secured the 38-22 victory.
The Rams are coming off a Super Bowl victory and they have reason to believe that they can win it again this season. Matthew Stafford is still dealing with a thumb injury and probably won’t play until Week 1 of the regular season. In the first preseason game the Rams faced off against the Los Angeles Chargers and they were able to win 29-22. Bryce Perkins completed 10 of his 17 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed eight times for 39 yards and a touchdown. Lance McCutcheon had a big game catching five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams have announced that backup quarterback John Wolford will play the first half of this game and Perkins will play the entire second half.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texans who are going through a rebuild and the biggest question they are trying to answer right now is if they have their future at quarterback. Davis Mills showed some flashes of being a solid NFL quarterback last season, but they need him to take a big step forward this year. In the first preseason game the Texans faced off against the New Orleans Saints, and they were able to secure a 17-13 victory. Davis Mills only threw three passes for 14 yards. Jeff Driskel threw for 165 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Jalen Camp had two catches for 53 yards.
The Texans are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven meetings. The over is 4-1 in the Texans last five games overall. The Texans are 1-4 in their last five meetings against the Rams.
The Rams offense put up 29 points in the first game, and they should find success scoring again in this game. Look for Los Angeles to get big games from Perkins and Wofford and they will score at least 29 points again in this game. The Texans won’t get enough good quarterback play to keep up, and the Rams will cover the spread.
