The Dallas Cowboys will visit the Denver Broncos on Saturday night in this NFC East vs AFC West preseason matchup. This will take place at Sports Authority Field in Denver and this will be the preseason opener for both teams.
Dallas is coming off a 12-5 season that saw the club win their division but fall to the San Francisco 49ers in the wildcard round of the playoffs.
Starting quarterback Dak Prescott is not expected to see much action, but the trade of Amari Cooper and the knee rehab for Michael Gallup has opened the door for some young wide receivers to see extensive minutes as the depth chart is set.
Ezekiel Elliott got a big contract this summer and is expected to be the focal point of this offense after rushing for 1002 yards, and earning a 4.2 yards per carry average. Elliott only average 58.9 yards per game last season, scoring 10 touchdowns on the season.
Last season the Dallas Cowboys averaged 407 yards on offense and 351 yards given up on defense.
Denver finished in last place in the AFC West but made a big splash in the off season by picking up long time veteran of the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson. Wilson is coming off a season where he appeared in 14 games, throwing for 3,113 yards and 25 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He did spend a nice chunk of the season injured. Nathaniel Hackett takes over as head coach this season.
Last season the Denver Broncos averaged 330.5 yards on offense and 326.1 yards given up on defense.
The Under is 5-1 in Cowboys last 6 road games and is 9-3 in Cowboys last 12 games overall. The Under is 7-2 in Broncos last 9 games on grass and is 8-3 in Broncos last 11 games overall.
Although the Broncos are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games the Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The Cowboys are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. Cooper Rush will play a lot at quarterback for the Cowboys along with Will Grier. I’ll side with the Broncos in this one as this team has a new look and feel this season.
