New York Giants at New England Patriots - 8/11/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The New York Giants will play the New England Patriots in a preseason game at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.
The New York Giants were 4-13 last season and finished last in the NFC East. New York is expected to play all of their healthy players for at least a portion of this game. New York’s quarterback depth chart goes in this order: Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor, and Davis Webb. This will be Brian Daboll’s first game as coach for the Giants and is looking to turn around a franchise that has struggled in recent seasons.
The New England Patriots were 10-7 in the regular season last year and finished second in the AFC East behind the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots did make the playoffs, but lost in the first round to Buffalo by a score of 47-17. New England is tough to read going into this game and it is unknown if Mac Jones will even dress for the game. New England’s backup quarterbacks are Brian Hoyer and Bailey Zappe.
New York is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games. The under is 21-6-1 in New York’s last 28 games. New England is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The over is 4-0 in New England’s last 4 games. New York is 5-1 ATS in these two teams last 6 head to head meetings and the under is 4-1 in these two teams last 5 head to head meetings in New England.
Looking at this game we have two different situations between the two teams. New England has Bill Belichick, who has been a head coach for decades and knows exactly what he is going to do. New York has a first time head coach that has preached the importance of the preseason and will be looking to find the team’s identity. I like how Coach Daboll has stressed the ability to get live reps and I think his better players will get more reps than the Patriots. I am taking the Giants here.
