Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets - 1/2/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the New York Jets on Sunday from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The Jets have 30 players on the injured reserve or COVID list and 2 who are questionable, they also are locked in to their draft position.
The Jets are coming in after covering as 2.5 point favorites in a narrow 26-21 home win over the Jaguars for just their fourth win of the year. Zach Wilson was 14 of 22 for 102 yards and just one touchdown in the win against the Jags.
Zach Wilson has struggled in his first season as the Jets starting QB. Wilson has tallied 2013 passing yards accompanied by 7 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Jets offense averages 318.7 yards a game which is 21st in the league. They are scoring 18.4 points per game as they give up 391.3 yards and 29.9 points per game to their opponents.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won the NFC South at this point and don’t have much left to prove.. They rebounded with a dominating 32-6 road win over the Panthers last week. Tom Brady completed 18 of 30 passes in that one with 1 touchdown and zero interceptions. He had a QBR of 82.6.
Tom Brady is once again having an impressive season well into his 40s. He has thrown for 4,580 yards for 37 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. He has a QBR of 65.7.
The Buccaneers offense averages 401.7 yards a game which is 2nd in the league. They are scoring 29.5 points per game as they give up 329.6 yards and 20.8 points per game to their opponents.
The Buccaneers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings which likely explains why this line is softer. The Bucs have no reason to be extremely motivated against the abysmal Jets and have no reason to go all in as they are looking towards the playoffs. The Buccaneers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win of more than 14 points. The Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and should be able to keep this close. I’ll hold my nose and take the points with the Jets in this one.
