The Detroit Lions will travel to play the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Detroit Lions are 2-12-1 this season and have lost two of their last three games. Detroit lost to Atlanta by a score of 20-16 in their last game. The Lions were driving late in the fourth quarter to take the lead before Tim Boyle threw an interception that effectively ended the game. Detroit is averaging 17.3 points per game and is giving up 25.7 points per game against, while also averaging 202.1 passing yards per game and 112.8 rushing yards per game. Jared Goff is doubtful in this game, meaning Tim Boyle will have another opportunity to start. Tim Boyle has completed 68.4% of his passes for 264 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions for the Lions. D’Andre Swift, who is set to return from injury, has rushed for 555 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Amon-Ra St. Brown has caught 74 passes for 692 yards and 3 touchdowns for Detroit.
The Seattle Seahawks are 5-10 this season and have lost their last two games. Seattle is coming off of a loss to Chicago by a score of 25-24 in their last game. Seattle led by 10 points in the fourth quarter, but the Bears stormed back and got a winning two point conversion with 1:01 left to play. Seattle is averaging 20.4 points per game and is giving up 20.5 points per game against, while also averaging 198.1 passing yards per game and 107.1 rushing yards per game. Russell Wilson has completed 64.9% of his passes for 2,639 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions for the Seahawks. Rashaad Penny has rushed for 389 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Tyler Lockett has caught 65 passes for 1,053 yards and 5 scores.
Detroit is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against the NFC and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The under is 6-1 in Detroit’s last 7 road games. Seattle is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against the NFC and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite. The under is 8-2 in Seattle’s last 10 games against the NFC. The home team is 5-2 ATS in these two teams last 7 head to head meetings.
For the most part, Detroit has been pretty competitive this season and probably should have more than two wins. They are clearly playing for Dan Campbell, even with some of their best players getting injured. Seattle has been a mess this season and fell very short of their expectation for the year. Seattle should win this game, but I like the way Detroit has been playing. I am going to take Detroit to keep this within a touchdown and hope the Seahawks continue their slide.
