The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs face off on Sunday in a Week 16 NFL showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. When these two teams last faced off in 2019 it was the Steelers that won 17-7.
The Steelers come into this game with a 7-6-1 record overall and they have gone 6-8 against the spread. The biggest issue with this team has been with the inconsistency, especially with the offense. In the last game against the TItans, the defense was strong giving up only 13 points and that led to the victory. The Steelers are averaging 20.8 points while their defense is giving up 23.9 points per game. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 3,214 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Najee Harris has also been good out of the backfield rushing for 891 yards and six touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas City Chiefs who sit with a 10-4 record and they have gone 7-7 against the spread. After some struggles earlier in the year, they have won seven games in a row. In the last game against the Chargers, it took overtime but the Chiefs were able to win 34-28. The Chiefs are averaging 27.5 points while their defense is giving up 21.14 points per game. Patrick Mahomes at times hasn’t looked as sharp but he has still thrown for 4,052 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. One big issue for the Chiefs is they are dealing with a ton of COVID-related illnesses. Guys like Travis Kelce, Kyle Long, and Tyreek Hill are in jeopardy of missing this game and Harrison Butker has already been ruled out. Elliott Fry has been signed to kick for the Chiefs in this game.
The Steelers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six against the AFC. The Chiefs are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Kansas City.
I just don’t trust Big Ben, and he will struggle to move the ball against the Chiefs defense. Patrick Mahomes will have no issue moving the ball though, and he is going to lead the Chiefs' offense to plenty of success. The Chiefs will win this game in blowout fashion, and cover the spread.
