The Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs face off on Sunday in an AFC West showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. When these two teams faced off on November 14th it was the Chiefs that won 41-14.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a big game completing 35 of his 50 passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr actually played decently too, throwing for 261 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
The Las Vegas Raiders sit with a 6-6 record overall and they have gone 5-7 against the spread. Las Vegas is averaging 22.8 points while their defense is giving up 26 points per game. In each of the last two games the Raiders have been competitive, but they were defeated. Two games ago the Cowboys lost to the Raiders by three points, and in the last game against Washington, they lost by two points. One big question for this Raiders team is the status of star tight end Darren Waller who is dealing with a knee injury. If he can’t go in this game, it’s going to be a big loss for this team.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas City Chiefs who sit with an 8-4 record and they have gone 5-7 against the spread. Each of the last two games it’s actually been the Chiefs defense that has won them the games. Two games ago against the Cowboys they only gave up nine points and in the last game against the Denver Broncos they only gave up nine points. Kansas City is averaging 25.3 points while their defense is giving up 21.6 points per game. Patrick Mahomes stats still look good this season, but he hasn't been as dominant as years past.
The Raiders are 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The under is 4-0 in the Chiefs last four home games. The Raiders are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games on grass. The Raiders are 1-4 against the spread in their last five meetings in Kansas City. The under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams.
The Chiefs offense was strong in the last game against the Raiders, and it’s going to happen again in this game. Look for the Raiders offense to also struggle against the Chiefs defense and that will be the case again in this game. Back the Chiefs against the spread.
