The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets face off on Sunday in an NFL showdown at MetLife Stadium. These two teams faced off in the preseason and the two teams played to a 31-31 draw.
The Philadelphia Eagles come into this game with a 5-7 record and they have gone 6-6 against the spread. In the last game against the Giants the Eagles defense was strong giving up only 13 points, but the offense only managed seven points and that led to the defeat. The Eagles are averaging 25.3 points per game while their defense is giving up 22.8 points per game. Jalen Hurts has been decent this year, especially with his legs but he is questionable with an ankle injury and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game. If he can’t go it will be Gardner Minshew who will get the start.
On the other side of this matchup is the New York Jets who sit with a 3-7 record and they have gone 3-8 against the spread. Even though the Jets have struggled this season they are coming off a seven point win against the Houston Texans. Quarterback Zach Wilson threw for 145 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The Jets are averaging only 18.1 points while their defense is giving up 30.4 points per game. In this game if the Jets want to find success, they are going to need a strong game from Wilson.
The Jets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in December. The Jets are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against a team with a losing record.The under is 5-1 in the Jets last six games in December.
There are so many questions heading into this game about both quarterbacks. With the Eagles, it’s if Hurts will play and for the Jets it’s how Wilson will play. I do expect both quarterbacks are going to have issues moving the ball and this game is going to be an ugly game. Back the under to cash. In terms of the side it’s a lean to the Jets to cover the spread.
