The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants face off on Sunday in a key NFC East showdown at MetLife Stadium. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020 it was the Giants that won 27-17.
The Philadelphia Eagles come into this game with a 5-6 record overall but with the Cowboys struggles they are all of a sudden alive in the NFC East. The Eagles last game was an impressive 40-29 victory over the New Orleans Saints.Jalen Hurts wasn’t super dynamic through the air, but he did have three rushing touchdowns. The Eagles are averaging 27 points while their defense is giving up 23.6 points per game. Hurts has been inconsistent this season but the last few weeks he has made winning plays when they needed them. Miles Sanders is also back and that’s a big boost for this squad.
On the other side of this matchup is the New York Giants who are having another down season sitting with a 3-7 record but they have gone 5-5 against the spread. In the last game against the Buccaneers the offense could only manage 10 points while the defense gave up 30 points. On the season the Giants are averaging 18.9 points while their defense is giving up 24.6 points per game. Quarterback Daniel Jones has thrown for 2,226 yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He isn’t the only one to blame, but far too often he has made a bad decision in crunch time.
The Eagles are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against the NFC. The Giants are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the NFC East. The Eagles are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games in New York. The road team is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
I don’t like the way Jones has looked the last few games and he is going to struggle again in this game. Look for the Giants defense to struggle to stop Hurt and the Eagles will get the job done. Back the Eagles against the spread and they should win this game by a touchdown.
