The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to SoFi Stadium on Sunday night for an AFC matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Steelers are 5-3-1 on the season after a pathetic tie against the winless Detroit Lions. The Chargers have dropped three of their previous four games to fall to 5-4.
After Ben Roethlisberger ended up on the covid list last week, the Steelers had to go with Mason Rudolph. Rudolph completed 30-of-50 passes for one touchdown and one interception.
Big Ben is likely to make his return in this one. Roethlisberger has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,986 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Star outside linebacker, T.J. Watt is also out with an injury.
On defense, Pittsburgh has given up 20.6 points and 367.3 yards of total offense per game. The Steelers are ranked ninth in the league at just 225.9 passing yards allowed per game.
Los Angeles suffered a tough 27-20 loss at home against the Minnesota Vikings last weekend. Justin Herbert wasn’t reliable in this one as he had 195 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss.
On the season, Herbert has completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,545 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions so far this year.
The Chargers score about 25 points per contest. The Chargers scoring defense ranks 25th in the league and gives up around 25 points per game and 374.3 yards of total offense per contest
On defense, the Chargers have given up 25.3 points per game and 374.3 yards of total offense per contest. While Los Angeles has been stingy against the pass. The Chargers have struggled against the run as they are giving up 155.1 yards per game on the ground, the worst in the league.
The Chargers are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. This game really depends on if Ben plays or not. If he does, I like the Steelers to win on the Moneyline. I think he plays, but just in case he doesn’t I’ll take the points instead.
