The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans face off on Sunday in an AFC South showdown at Nissan Stadium.
The Houston Texans are having a down season and they currently sit with a 1-8 record overall. In the last game against the Miami Dolphins, the defense was pretty good giving up only 17 points, but their offense could only manage nine points. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed 24 of his 43 passes for 240 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Texans are averaging 14.2 points while their defense is giving up 28.7 points per game. The biggest issue all season has been the offense, and if they want any chance to come away with a victory, the offense is going to need to be a lot better.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tennessee Titans who sit with an 8-2 record and they have gone 7-3 against the spread. In the last game against the New Orleans Saints it was a competitive game but the Titans came away with the two point victory. The Titans are averaging 27.8 points while their defense is giving up 23.2 points per game. Under center for the Titans is Ryan Tannehill who has thrown for 2,358 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Without Derrick Henry, it’s been a running back by committee.
The Texans are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games overall. The Texans are 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. The Titans are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against the AFC. The Texans are 13-6-1 against the spread in their last 20 meetings against the Titans. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings. The home team is 8-2 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.
This has been a series dominated by the home team, and it’s going to be no different in this game. The Texans offense is awful, and it’s going to be no different in this game. I don’t see Houston scoring more than 10 points in this game, and the Titans will come away with a cover of the spread.
