The Houston Texans visit the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 9 action. Houston comes into the weekend at 1-7 after a blowout loss to the Rams. Miami is also 1-7 coming off a 26-11 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week.
The Houston Texans are still in possession of Deshaun Watson at the trade deadline as their rookie quarterback Davis Mills is running the show. This season he has earned a rotten 29.6 QBR while completing 67 percent of his passes for 1,357 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. In last week's blowout, he finished going 29-38 for two touchdowns and an interception. Although they lost that game, he looked strong breaking into the 300 yard total.
The Houston Texans are one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL as they are giving up 30.1 points per game. Last game they allowed 38 points on 467 total yards of offense in 7.1 yards per play.
The Dolphins have not won a game since the opener. The offense is managing just 17.3 points per game on 301.9 yards per contest.
Between an injury, Tagovailoa has started five games, completing 103 of 157 pass attempts for 1,057 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has 15 rushes for 62 yards (4.1 yards per carry) with a pair of rushing touchdowns.
The Dolphins are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. Houston is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing 30+ points in their previous game. The Texans have owned this matchup as they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. These are two bottom feeding NFL teams. 7 is too much to lay with Miami when they have struggled to pick up wins straight up and against the spread this season. I’ll take a shot with Houston to keep it close here.
