The New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs face off in a cross-conference NFL showdown for Monday night football at Arrowhead Stadium. When these two teams last faced off it was the Giants that won 12-9.
The Giants have struggled this season sitting with a 2-5 record overall but they are coming off an impressive victory over the Carolina Panthers. The offense looked good putting up 25 points, and the defense held the Panthers to only a field goal. Daniel Jones completed 22 of his 33 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown. The GIants are averaging 19.9 points while the defense is giving up 25.7 points per game. Jones has been inconsistent but he has thrown for 1,727 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 229 yards and two touchdowns. The Giants are banged up heading into this game. Saquon Barkley and Kenney Golladay are both out for this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas City Chiefs who sit with a 3-4 record overall and they have been quite inconsistent this season too. In the last game against the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs offense could only manage three points. The Chiefs could only manage 26.9 points while the defense is giving up 29 points. Patrick Mahomes has thrown nine interceptions and that has been the story of this team’s offense. In this game if the Chiefs want a chance, they are going to need to take better care of the ball or this could be a long game.
The Giants are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last 6 games in Week 8. The Chiefs are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against teams with a losing record. The Giants are 4-1 in their last five meetings. The under is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings.
The Chiefs are the better team but the only team I really feel comfortable laying this type of number against would be the Jacksonville Jaguars. Look for Daniel Jones to have a good start, and that will be enough for the Giants to keep it close. Back the Giants against the spread. I do expect both teams to have plenty of scoring and for the over to cash.
