The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday in an AFC North showdown at FirstEnergy Stadium. When these two faced off in January it was the Browns that were able to win 48-37.
The Steelers come into this game with a 3-3 record overall but they have won two games in a row. In the last game against the Seattle Seahawks it took overtime, but the Steelers were able to win 23-20. Pittsburgh is averaging 19.5 points while the defense is giving up 22 points per game. Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with a pectoral strain but he is expected to be able to go in this game. On the season, Big Ben has thrown for 1,515 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. Running back Najee Harris has been a key for the offense rushing for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cleveland Browns who currently sit with a 4-3 record overall, but they are dealing with some major injuries. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is dealing with a shoulder injury and it’s unclear if he will be able to go. If he can’t go it will be Case Keenum who gets the start and in the last game he threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. The good news for the Browns is they should be getting Nick Chubb back for this game. Chubb has rushed for 523 yards and four touchdowns. The Browns are averaging 24.7 points while the defense is giving up 23.6 points per game.
The Steelers are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against the AFC North. The Browns are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games on grass. The home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings. The under is 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings in Cleveland.
Even if Mayfield doesn’t play, the Browns still have the better starting quarterback. The Steelers offense is going to struggle to score, and that is going to be the difference in this game. This has been a series dominated by the home team, and that will continue in this game. Look for the Browns offense to put up enough points to cover the spread.
