Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks: 10/31/21 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday afternoon in NFL action.
The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-5 on the season after defeating the Miami Dolphins, 23-20, on October 17th. Jacksonville did a solid job defensively in the 2nd half against the Dolphins and was able to win it on a 53-yard FG by Matthew Wright as time expired. Jacksonville was outgained by Miami by a 431-396 margin and force 1 turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Jaguars was QB Trevor Lawrence who completed 25 of 41 passes for 319 yards & 1 TD.
On the season, Jacksonville is averaging 19.3 ppg on 366.0 total yards per game (244.2 passing yds/g; 121.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Jacksonville has been led by QB Trevor Lawrence who has completed 59.7% of his passes for 1465 yards (264.3 passing yds/g), 7 TD, & 8 INT. The top receiving threats for Lawrence and the Jaguars have been Marvin Jones Jr. (28 rec. 343 yards, 3 TD), Laviska Shenault Jr. (26 rec, 306 yards), Jamal Agnew (12 rec, 146 yards), & Dan Arnold (10 rec, 120 yards). Leading the way for the Jaguars backfield has been James Robinson who has 460 rushing yards & 5 TD on 84 carries.
Defensively, Jacksonville is allowing their opponents to average 28.7 ppg on 420.0 total yards per game (305.7 passing yds/g; 114.3 rushing yds/g).
The Seattle Seahawks lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 2-5 on the season after being defeated by the New Orleans Saints, 13-10, this past Monday night. Seattle was able to jump out to a quick 7-0 on an 84-yard TD reception by DK Metcalf, however, the Seahawks offense struggled the rest of the way, and the Saints were able to pull out the victory after a game-winning 33-yard FG by Brian Johnson with 1:56 left in the 4th quarter. Seattle was outgained by New Orleans by a 304-219 margin and forced 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Geno Smith who completed 12 of 22 passes for 167 yards & 1 TD.
On the season, Seattle is averaging 21.4 ppg on 351.0 total yards per game (243.3 passing yds/g; 107.7 rushing yds/g). Seattle has been hit hard by injuries on the offensive end as both Russell Wilson & Chris Carson are currently on the IR. QB Geno Smith has completed 63.4% of his passes for 507 yards, 3 TD, & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for the Seahawks have been DK Metcalf (33 rec, 537 yards, 6 TD), Tyler Lockett (29 rec, 437 yards, 3 TD), Freddie Swain (16 rec, 169 yards, 2 TD), & Gerald Everett (13 rec, 128 yards, TD). Leading the way for the Seattle backfield has been Alex Collins who had 260 yards & 2 TD on 64 carries.
Defensively, Seattle is allowing their opponents to average 23.1 ppg on 428.3 total yards per game (294.1 passing yds/g; 134.1 rushing yds/g).
The Jaguars are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 October games. The Seahawks are 35-14-2 ATS in their last 54 games following a straight up loss, however, are just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win.
Jacksonville will be coming into this game with some great momentum after picking up their first win of the season, however, this is still not a very good football team and I’m expecting the Jaguars to struggle on the road against a Seattle defense that has been playing much better as of late, holding their last two opponents (Pittsburgh & New Orleans) to just a combined 36 points. Seattle should be able to have some offensive success against a Jacksonville defense that has really struggled against opposing passing attacks and as I expect both D.K. Metcalf & Tyler Lockett to find the end zone in this one, I think Seattle does enough to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
