Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars: 10/17/21 NFL Picks and Predictions
The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars face off on Sunday in a Week 6 NFL showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. When these two last faced off in 2020, Miami won 31-13.
The Dolphins are having another bad season losing four of their last five games and the only win came in the first game against the New England Patriots. In the last game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the defense really struggled giving up 45 points, and that led to the blowout loss. The good news for the Dolphins in this game is they are expected to get Tua Tagovailoa back, and although he has been inconsistent, he is a better option than Jacoby Brissett. The Dolphins offense is averaging 15.8 points while the defense is giving up 30.8 points per game. The offense is averaging 261.8 yards per game which ranks 31st in the NFL. If they want any chance in this game. Miami needs the offense to move the ball better.
On the other side of this matchup is the Jacksonville Jaguars who sit with an 0-5 record and they are 1-4 against the spread. In the last game against the Tennessee Titans, the defense really struggled giving up 37 points, and that led to the blowout loss. On the season, Jacksonville is averaging 18.6 points while the defense is giving up 30.4 points per game. Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence has had some ups and downs as a rookie throwing for 1,146 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The turnovers have been an issue, and they need to be cleaned up in this game.
The Dolphins are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games following a straight up loss. The Jaguars are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. The over is 5-2 in the Dolphins last seven games overall. The under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings played between the Jaguars and Dolphins.
Both of these offenses have been awful this season, and there is no reason to believe it’s going to change in this game. I expect plenty of turnovers by both teams, but neither team will be able to move the ball on the short field. The under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings, and that trend will continue. Back the under to cash.
