The Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Football Team face off on Sunday in a Week 6 NFL showdown at FedEx Field. When these two las faced off in 2017, the Chiefs came away with the 29-20 victory.
No one expected the Chiefs to be heading into this game with a 2-3 record. The Chiefs have played a tough schedule, but for a team that has dreams of winning another Super Bowl, they shouldn’t be sitting under .500 right now. In the last game against the Bills, the offense could only manage 20 points, and the defense has been a very big issue for this team giving up 38 points. The Chiefs are dealing with plenty of injuries right now, including to running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire who is dealing with an MCL sprain. The Chiefs are averaging 30.8 points while the defense is giving up 32.6 points. THe defense is ranked last in the NFL and in this game, they need to be better on that side of the ball.
On the other side of this matchup is the Washington Football Team who sit with a 2-3 record and they are 1-4 against the spread. Coming into the season the expectation for Washington was they would have a strong defense, but that hasn’t quite been the case this year. In each of the last two games, Washington has given up at least 30 points. Washington is averaging 24.6 points while the defense is giving up 31 points. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke has thrown for 1,208 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. Running back Antonio Gibson has also rushed for 313 yards and three touchdowns.
Washington is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games. Washington is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall. The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
Both of these defenses can’t be trusted, and that is going to lead to both teams running up the score. I expect both offenses will reach at least 30 points, and this game is going to go well over the total. I will also be throwing a few dollars on Washington to win this game outright too.
