The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles face off on Thursday night football in a Week 6 NFL showdown at Lincoln Financial Field. When these two teams last faced off in 2018, the Buccaneers won 27-21.
The Buccaneers sit with a 4-1 record overall, and the only loss came against the Los Angeles Rams a few games ago. In the last game against the Miami Dolphins, the offense had another big game scoring 45 points, and that led to the victory. Tom Brady had another big game throwing for 411 yards and five touchdowns, The Buccaneers are averaging 33.4 points per game which is 3rd best in the NFL. He has given up 24.4 points per game which is 19th in the NFL. Brady has thrown for 1,767 yards, 15 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is dealing with a thumb injury, but is still expected to go. Mike Evans, Chris Goodwin, and Antonio Brown have all had at least 300 receiving yards. Rob Gronkowski is dealing with rib injuries and it’s unclear his status for this game. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is dealing with a concussion and it’s unclear if he will be able to go.
On the other side of this matchup is the Philadelphia Eagles who sit with a 2-3 record but they are coming off a win in their last game against the Carolina Panthers. At the end of the first quarter, the Eagles were down 10-3, but in the second half they played a lot better and ended up winning 21-18. Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 22 of his 33 passes for 198 touchdowns, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Hurts also rushed nine times for nine yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles are averaging 23 points while their defense is giving up 24 points per game. Hurts has been a little inconsistent this season, and if they want to win this game, they need him to take good care of the ball, and hit the open receivers. A few times in the last game, Hurts missed wide-open throws that could have gone for big gains.
The Buccaneers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall. The Eagles are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games. The over is 7-1 in the Bucs last eight games on grass. The under is 4-1 in the Eagles' last five games on grass. The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
The Buccaneers are the better team, and they are going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. I don’t trust Hurts, and he is going to turn the ball over a few times in this game. Look for the Buccaneers to get another big game from Brady, and they will win by at least two touchdowns. Back the Buccaneers against the spread.
