New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons - 10/10/21 NFL Picks and Prediction
The New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons meet Sunday in week 5 NFL action at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The New York Jets need a win here to rebound from a 1-3 record. The Atlanta Falcons also need a win to bounce back from a 1-3 start.
The New York Jets have lost three straight non-home games. Zach Wilson is completing 56.8 percent of his passes for 925 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions. Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios have combined for 407 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Keelan Cole has five receptions. The New York Jets ground game is averaging 76.5 yards per contest, and Michael Carter leads the way with 127 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, New York is allowing 23.5 points and 353.5 yards per game. CJ Mosely leads the New York Jets with 37 tackles, Quinnen Williams has 3.5 sacks and Bryce Hall has three pass deflections.
The Atlanta Falcons have lost five of their last six non-home games. Matt Ryan is completing 67.9 percent of his passes for 990 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Calvin Ridley and Cordarrelle Patterson have combined for 490 receiving yards and five touchdowns, while Kyle Pitts has 15 receptions. The Atlanta Falcons ground game is averaging 86.8 yards per contest, and Mike Davis leads the way with 151 yards on 49 carries. Defensively, Atlanta is allowing 32 points and 383.3 yards per game. Foyesade Oluokun leads the Atlanta Falcons with 43 tackles, Dante Fowler Jr. has two sacks and Erik Harris has five pass deflections.
The Jets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Falcons are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Jets last 8 games overall. The under is 5-2 in Falcons last 7 games overall.
The Atlanta Falcons are probably the better team on paper, but that's not saying much. The Falcons are also 32nd in scoring defense and just lost at home to the Washington Football Team. The New York Jets beat a good Titans team last week and are an average to above-average defensive squad, despite issues stopping the run at times. The bottom line is neither of these teams are good, they're poor offensively, and nobody knows how the travel will impact these teams. I wouldn't touch this personally, but I'll take the free field goal if forced to pick.
