The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks face off on Thursday Night Football in a week 5 NFL showdown at Lumen Field. These two teams last faced off in January of 2021 and the Rams won 30-20.
The Rams won their first three games of the season, but they are coming off a bad loss in their last start. Two weeks ago against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they won 34-24, but in the last game, the defense gave up 37 points, and that led to the 17 point defeat. Even when the Rams have found success this season, they haven’t had a whole lot of defensive success giving up at least 24 points in each of their last three games. Under center for the Rams is Matthew Stafford and he has thrown for 1,222 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Running back Darrell Henderson Jr has been banged up but he has rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns. This is a big game for the Rams, and the defense is going to need to be a lot better in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Seahawks who have been inconsistent, but they sit with a 2-2 record overall. The Seahawks looked good in the last game against the San Francisco 49ers winning 28-21. The Seahawks scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter, and that was enough to win the game. This is a good offense, but at times the defense has struggled including earlier against the Tennessee Titans where they gave up 33 points. Russell Wilson has thrown for 1,044 yards, nine touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Out wide Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are both having big years and they are going to need to be key in this game.
The Rams are 23-9-1 against the spread in their last 33 games against the NFC. The Seahawks are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games overall. The over is 6-0 in the Rams last six games overall. The under is 4-1 in the Seahawks last five home games. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Seattle. The Rams are 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings against the Seahawks.
The wrong team is favored in this game. The Rams defense is clearly an issue, and the Seahawks are going to take advantage of that. The Seahawks scored 28 points against the 49ers, and they will score at least that many in this game. Back the Seahawks to cover the spread.
