The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday afternoon in NFL action.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 1-2 on the season after being defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals, 24-10, this past Sunday. Pittsburgh had a surprisingly difficult time finding the end zone against Cincinnati at home and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 14-7 margin. Pittsburgh outgained Cincinnati by a 342-268 margin, however, lost the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Steelers was RB Najee Harris who combined for 142 yards (40 rushing; 102 receiving).
On the season, Pittsburgh is averaging 16.7 ppg on 320.0 total yards per game (267.0 passing yds/g; 53.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Pittsburgh is led by QB Ben Roethlisberger who has completed 63.8% of his passes for 801 yards, 3 TD, & 3 INT. The top receiving threats for the Steelers have been Chase Claypool (15 rec, 211 yards), Diontae Johnson (14 rec, 141 yards, 1 TD), & JuJu Smith-Schuster (13 rec, 118 yards). Leading the way for the Pittsburgh backfield has been Najee Harris who has 123 rushing yards on 40 carries while also hauling in 20 receptions for 149 yards & 1 TD.
Defensively, Pittsburgh is holding their opponents to an average of 22.0 ppg on 363.0 total yards per game (274.7 passing yds/g; 88.3 rushing yds/g).
The Green Bay Packers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 2-1 on the season after defeating the San Francisco 49ers, 30-28, this past Sunday night. Green Bay allowed San Francisco to fight back from an early 17-0 deficit to take a lead with just :37 seconds left in regulation, however, Aaron Rodgers was able to complete a few big plays in the ensuing possession and the Packers walked away with the victory after Mason Crosby hit a game-winning 51-yard FG as time expired. Green Bay outgained San Francisco by a 353-298 margin and won the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for the Packers was WR Davante Adams who had 12 receptions for 132 yards & 1 TD.
On the season, Green Bay is averaging 22.7 ppg on 318.7 total yards per game (239.0 passing yds/g; 79.7 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Green Bay is led by QB Aaron Rodgers who has completed 68.2% of his passes for 649 yards, 6 TD, & 2 INT. The top receiving threats for Rodgers and the Packers have been Davante Adams (25 rec, 309 yards, TD), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (6 rec, 76 yards, TD), & Robert Tonyan (6 rec, 66 yards, TD). Leading the way for the Green Bay backfield is Aaron Jones who has 158 rushing yards & 2 TD on 41 carries while also hauling in 10 receptions for 75 yards & 3 TD.
Defensively, Green Bay is allowing their opponents to an average of 27.7 ppg on 333.3 total yards per game (218.0 passing yds/g; 115.3 rushing yds/g).
The Steelers are 24-8-2 ATS in their last 34 games as an underdog, however, are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Packers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.
Green Bay defense struggled to start the season, however, the secondary has improved as the weeks have gone on and I’m not too worried about a Pittsburgh offense that has an aging Ben Roethlisberger and might be missing two of their better WR’s in Juju Smith-Schuster & Diontae Johnson who are currently questionable. Green Bay has one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL led by the trio of Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, & Aaron Jones and as I think the Packers will have plenty of success at home putting up points, I’m taking Green Bay to cover this spread. Good Luck!
