The New York Giants and New Orleans Saints face off on Sunday in a Week 4 NFL showdown at Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The last time these two teams faced off was in 2018, and the Saints won 33-18.
The New York Giants haven’t lived up to the expectations this season as they currently sit with an 0-3 record. The Giants have been competitive and lost their last two games by a total of four points, but in the NFL that isn’t good enough. One issue for this offense seems to be with the play calling and the team being too conservative. In the last game against the Atlanta Falcons, they gave up ten points in the 4th quarter and even though they scored eight it wasn’t enough as they lost by three points. The Giants are averaging 18.7 points while their defense is giving up 24.7 points. Daniel Jones on the season has thrown for 782 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Jones has also been the leading rusher putting up 161 yards and two touchdowns Saquon Barkley did find the end zone in the last game but it’s still clear he’s not 100 percent from injury.
On the other side of this matchup is the New Orleans Saints who have played two really good games, and an awful one. The Saints beat the Packers 38-3 in the first game, and in the last game they won 28-13. In the second game is where the Saints had all kinds of issues against the Carolina Panthers scoring only seven points total. Jameis Winston hasn’t been throwing for a ton of yards this season, but he still seems to be making the smart plays to find success. In the last game, Winston completed 13 of his 21 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints are averaging 24.3 points while their defense is giving up 14 points. Alvin Kamara has rushed for 112 yards and the team needs to get more production out of him in this game.
The Giants are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games against the NFC. The Saints are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games against the NFC. The Giants are 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven meetings. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in New Orleans.
I don’t think Joe Judge is the answer for the Giants, but Jason Garrett for sure isn’t the answer for the offense. The Falcons aren’t known for their defense, and the Giants could only manage 14 points on them. It’s not going to get any easier for the Saints, and their lack of scoring will be the difference. The Saints should get to 24 or 27 points, and the Saints will cover the spread.
