Indianapolis Colts at Miami Dolphins 10/3/21 NFL Picks and Predictions
The Indianapolis Colts face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, October 3rd, at Hard Rock Stadium for a Week 4 NFL matchup.
The Colts are coming off a 25-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans on the road in Week 3. That loss puts Indianapolis at 0-3 on the year with already two home games completed in Weeks 1 and 2. The Colts will be without star offensive lineman Quenton Nelson, which is a major loss to this offense. The Colts have struggled offensively overall, as the team is only averaging 19 points per game and 318 total yards per contest. Carson Wentz has a 60.4% completion percentage for 692 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception on the year. The Colts' leading rusher has been Jonathan Taylor, who has earned 171 rushing yards and 4.1 yards per carry this season. The Colts have allowed 373 total yards and 27 points per game as the defense has also not been able to hold up very well. The AFC South is weak yet again this season but the Colts are going to need to find wins very soon.
The Miami Dolphins are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in OT last week. The final score of that contest was 31-28 at Allegiant Stadium. The Dolphins jumped out to a 14-0 lead but the Raiders offense was quick to come back. The Dolphins lost the game on a game-winning field goal near the end of overtime after both teams earned field goals on their first possessions in overtime. The Dolphins will start Jacoby Brissett at quarterback for the second straight week. Brissett has completed 62.9% of his passes for 384 yards, no touchdowns, and one pick. The Dolphins as a team are earning only 268 total yards of offense per game and 15 points. Defensively, the Dolphins have allowed 401 total yards per game and 27 points.
The Dolphins are 2.5-point favorites and the total is set at 42.5. I like the Colts in this one as even though Nelson is out, I expect a strong game by Jonathan Taylor and the Colts' running game. Miami does not have enough answers offensively in my opinion, and I think Indianapolis finds its first win of the season.
