The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears face off on Sunday in a Week 4 NFL showdown at Soldier Field. The Bears have won five of the last six games against the Lions.
The Chicago Bears have struggled to start the season winning only one of their first three games, and the biggest question heading into this game is who will be under center. Matt Nagy said earlier in the week that Justin Fields, Andy Dalton, and Nick Foles are all under consideration for the job. Fields got the start against the Cleveland Browns in the last game and he completed six of his 20 passes for 68 yards. David Montgomery was the leading rusher finishing with 34 yards on 10 rushes. The Bears offense has been the biggest inconsistency and they haven’t scored more than 20 points so far this season. No matter who starts in this game, the Bears are going to need more out of their running game, or this will be another loss.
On the other side of this matchup is the Detroit Lions who are still looking for their first win, but they are better than their record shows. In the last game it was a 66-yard field goal by Justin Tucker that defeated them. In the first game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Lions almost made the comeback late, but they fell just short as they lost 41-33. Under center for the Lions is Jared Goff and he has thrown for 801 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. In the backfield, D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams have both looked good. In this game the Lions need to put pressure on whoever is under center for the Bears and to not fall behind early.
The Lions are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games in Week 4. The Bears are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall. The over is 9-4 in the Lions last 13 games overall. The Lions are 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five meetings in Chicago.
The Bears really don’t have a great option to start at quarterback right now, and even the Lions defense should slow them down. Jared Goff has actually played pretty well this season throwing for five touchdowns, and he is going to have a big game. Take the Lions getting the points and don’t be afraid to take a few dollars on them to win on the money line.
