Washington Football Team at Buffalo Bills 9/26/21 NFL Picks and Predictions
The Washington Football Team faces the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 26th, at Highmark Stadium for a Week 3 NFL matchup.
The Washington Football Team will be playing on 10 days of rest after they played on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. Washington defeated the New York Giants by the final score of 30-29 on a game-winning field goal by Dustin Hopkins. Washington is now 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in NFC East play. Washington will have backup quarterback, Taylor Heinicke, start for quite some time after Ryan Fitzpatrick went down with an injury in Week 1. Heinicke is 45 of 61 for 458 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception so far this season. Washington's defense has not been as strong as we saw last season, as Washington really struggled in stopping a weak Giants' offense last week. Other than the 29 points allowed, Washington also conceded 391 total yards and did not force any turnovers in the win.
The Buffalo Bills got into the win column in Week 2 as they defeated the Miami Dolphins in a 35-0 blowout win. Tua Tagovailoa was injured early in that game and Miami was forced to bring in Jacoby Brissett at quarterback for the remainder of the contest. Buffalo was tenacious on both sides of the ball, but specifically on the defensive front. The Bills only allowed 216 total yards and kept the Dolphins to 71 rushing yards. The Bills are now 1-1 after losing to the Steelers in Week 1 and will now be playing in their second home game of the season. The AFC East is all nodded up with three teams (Bills, Patriots, Dolphins) at 1-1.
The Buffalo Bills are 7.5-point favorites and the total is set at 45.5. I think the Bills' defense is going to be tough to face for Heinicke and this Washington offense, especially on the road. Buffalo should be able to win this game rather comfortably, but I am not in love with laying more than a touchdown against a competent team in Washington. I will take the under here, as I think that is the better play.
