The New York Jets will head on the road to face the Denver Broncos in an NFL regular season matchup. The Broncos won 37-28 in a week four game between these two last season.
The New York Jets lost their home opener 25-6 against the New England Patriots. Zach Wilson tossed four brutal interceptions and finished with 210 yards through the air. They had a lot of success on the ground, averaging 4.9 yards per carry for 152 yards. It was an encouraging day for the defense as they limited the Patriots to 260 yards of total offense and gave up most of their points off turnovers from the offense. The Jets rank 29th with 195.5 passing yards per game and 21st with 98.5 yards on the ground. They have scored 10 points per game while allowing 22 to the opposition. Rookie Zach Wilson has tossed a league-high five interceptions through two weeks.
Denver is now 2-0 after a 23-13 victory at the Jacksonville Jaguars a week ago. Teddy Bridgewater had a solid game, going 26/34 with 328 yards and two touchdowns. Cortland Sutton led the way for the receivers, catching nine passes for 159 yards. The defense did a great job of frustrating rookie QB Trevor Lawrence, forcing him to a less than 50 percent completion percentage with two interceptions. Through two games, the Broncos rank 11th with 278.5 passing yards per game and fifth with 130.5 rushing yards. They have averaged 25 points per game while surrendering just 13 to their opponents. Teddy Bridgewater is an early candidate for comeback player of the year, throwing for 592 yards with a league best 82.7 QBR to start the season.
New York is 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games, 2-8 on the money line, and the under is 7-3.
Denver is 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games, 4-6 on the money line, and the under is 7-3.
Denver started their season with two wins on the road and will look to go 3-0 for the first time since 2016 with a win here at home. There is a scenario where the Jets simplify the offense for Zach Wilson and their exciting young defense can make some key stops to keep them in the game…. but this is the Jets and until they prove they can get out of their own way; you have to continue to fade them. Teddy Bridgewater has been playing out of his mind and will likely take advantage of some short fields gifted by this New York offense. Give me Denver to win this one going away.
