The Atlanta Falcons face the New York Giants on Sunday, September 26th, at MetLife Stadium for a Week 3 NFL matchup.
The Atlanta Falcons are 0-2 after two weak defensive performances against two NFC foes in the Eagles and the Buccaneers. The Falcons dropped their most recent game against Tampa Bay by the final score of 48-25. Atlanta looked competent on offense, scoring 25 points and putting up 348 total yards against a tough Bucs defense on the road. Part of that could have been game-script, as the Buccaneers were in control of the game virtually the entire way through. The Falcons' secondary has really struggled this season, allowing opposing quarterbacks to do a ton of damage in the passing game. The Falcons have allowed eight passing touchdowns in two games, which is never going to be good enough in the NFL. Now, the Falcons take on a Giants team that looked rather comfortable in the passing game last week at Washington.
The New York Giants are 0-2 yet again as the G-Men took another loss to start the season, this time against the Washington Football Team. It looked like the Giants were on their way to a big divisional road victory, but an offsides penalty on a missed game-winning field goal attempt for Washington allowed the Football Team another crack at the game-winner, an attempt that Dustin Hopkins did not miss the second time around. The Giants have allowed over 400 total yards to each of their first two opponents and the team has really struggled against opposing ground games. The Giants' secondary is also struggling to start the season, something that not too many experts saw coming. Offensively, the Giants are still thin on the offensive line and have not been able to get Saquon Barkley involved much in the running game. The Giants have glaring issues, but this could be a game that brings the team some momentum.
The New York Giants are a 2.5-point favorite and the total is set at 47.5. As much as the Falcons have struggled defensively, I do not like the way the Giants defense has looked either. I think the Falcons get their ground game going here and Matt Ryan is able to breathe a bit after being sacked four times this season. I think the Falcons have more playmakers and weapons offensively, so I will take the points with Atlanta.
