The Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders face off on Monday Night Football in the last game of Week 1. These teams last faced off in 2018 with the Ravens coming away with the 34-17 victory.
The Baltimore Ravens have been dealt blow after blow this preseason, but they still have high hopes for this season. The running back room is thin, and it looks like Ty’son Williams and Latavius Murray getting most of the credit. Murray was signed only a few days ago, but will still need to have a big game. This is still a Ravens offense that is talented led by Lamar Jackson who is a threat with his arm and his legs. The wide receiver room also got better with the addition of Sammy Watkins. On defense, this is a loaded unit and last season they gave up only 18.9 points which was second in all of football. The secondary did lose Marcus Peters and that is a big blow to the secondary.
On the other side of this matchup is the Las Vegas Raiders who finished with an 8-8 record last season, and hope this is a season they can finally get back to playoff success. Uncer center for the Raiders is Derek Carr and he has some key weapons outside in Darren Waller and Henry Ruggs III. In the backfield, the Raiders have Josh Jacobs, but they also added Kenyan Drake who should get plenty of run in this game. Last season the defense was a big issue giving up 29.9 points per game which was 30th in football.
The Ravens are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games overall. Las Vegas is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. The under is 11-4 in the Ravens last 15 games against the AFC. The over is 4-0 in the Raiders last four games overall. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings played between the two teams.
The Ravens are the better team but their running back room is a big concern for me, and that is going to hurt them in this game. The Ravens will still find a way to get the victory, but the Raiders offense will find enough success in this game to keep it close. Back the Raiders to cover the spread.
