The Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts face off on Sunday in a Week 1 NFL showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium. The last time these two teams faced off in 2017 and the Seahawks came away with the 46-10 victory.
The Seattle Seahawks 2020 season was another successful one finishing with a 12-4 record. Overall there are a lot of questions about this team but one thing we do know is they have one of the best quarterbacks in football in Russell Wilson. Wilson also has some solid weapons outside in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Last season, Metcalf finished with 83 receptions for 1303 yards and 10 touchdowns. The big question for Seattle heading into this game is will the offensive line be improved. On defense last season the Seahawks could have used a little improvement after giving up 23.2 points per game which was 15th in the NFL.
On the other side of this matchup is the Colts who finished with an 11-5 record last season, but this squad looks a whole lot different. The team brought in Carson Wentz this offseason and although he was hurt, he looks ready to go in this game. Last season Wentz completed 57.4 percent of his passes for 2.620 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. The turnovers were a problem last year, but if he can control those, he is still a top tier quarterback. On defense last season the Colts were talented and only gave up 22.6 points per game which was 10th in the NFL. In this game for the Colts they need to slow down the Seahawks passing game.
The Seahawks are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games played in September. The Colts are 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings played between the two teams. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
I don’t trust Wentz, and the turnover issues that plagued him last year, will continue to be a problem this year. Look for the Colts offense to struggle to score in this game, and that will be the difference in this game. Back the Seahawks to win this game and cover the spread.
