The Pittsburgh Steelers face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 12th, at Highmark Stadium for a Week 1 NFL contest.
The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the season with a 12-4 record after starting the year with a perfect 11-0 record. The Steelers were bounced in the Wild Card round of the AFC Playoffs to their divisional rivals in the Cleveland Browns. During this year's preseason, the Steelers went 3-1 after beating the Cowboys, Eagles, and Lions and losing to the Panthers. The Steelers have big expectations yet again in the AFC North, but this division is loaded with talent. Just yesterday, the Steelers announced a contract extension for their #1 linebacker in T.J Watt that is good for four years and $112 million. The Steelers Ben Roethlisberger is entering his 18th season in the NFL at the age of 39. Overall, this is a Steelers team that is very talented on both sides of the ball and should be a contender in the AFC yet again in 2021.
The Buffalo Bills had a historic season in 2020 finishing the regular season with a 13-3 record and making it all the way to the AFC Championship game. The Bills lost that Championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs by the final score of 38-24 but the Bills definitely took a large step in the right direction last season. Now, with Josh Allen back under center and plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, the Bills are the clear favorites to win the AFC East and one of the favorites to take the entire AFC. The Bills were a perfect 3-0 in preseason play and Josh Allen picked up right where he left off in his preseason start against Green Bay. Allen threw for 194 yards and two passing touchdowns while adding four yards on the ground in that start.
The last time these two teams faced each other was just last year on December 13th in which the Bills defeated the Steelers by the final score of 26-15.
The Bills are 6.5-point favorites and the total is set at 48.5. I think the Bills' offense is going to be a bit too much for the Steelers to handle in this one. Josh Allen is entering the season as a Top-5 quarterback in the league and I expect a stellar performance from him here. I will lay the points with the home favorite in this one.
