The New England Patriots and New York Giants face off on Sunday In Week 3 of the NFL preseason at MetLife Stadium.
The New England Patriots have a quarterback battle on their hands. Cam Newton and Mac Jones are in the middle of a quarterback battle and it could come down to this game. In the first game of the preseason the Patriots beat the Washington Football Team. In the last game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Patriots were quite impressive putting up 35 points and that led to the blowout victory. In the last game, Mac Jones completed 13 of his 19 passes for 146 yards. Cam Newton completed 8 of his 9 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of this matchup is the New York Giants who lost their first game of the preseason against the New York Jets. In the last game against the Cleveland Browns, it didn’t get any better as the Giants were defeated. In the last game Daniel Jones didn’t play, and the offense really struggled. The expectation is that Jones will play in this game, and they need more production out of him. Quarterback Brian Lewerke completed 11 of his 19 passes for 108 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Mike Glennon also completed 10 of his 13 passes for 86 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The defense hasn’t been terrible so far this season but the offense hasn’t been good enough, and they need the offense to be better in this game.
The Patriots are 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games. The Giants are 6-17-1 against the spread in their last 24 home games. The under is 7-1 in the Patriots last eight games overall. The under is 13-3 in the Giants last 16 games overall. The underdog is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings played between the two teams.
The Patriots have looked good in the preseason and that is going to continue in this game. Look for the Patriots to run up the score, the Giants are going to struggle to score in this game. The Giants have scored only 20 points this preseason, and that won’t be enough. Back the Patriots against the spread.
