Las Vegas Raiders at San Francisco 49ers 8/29/21 NFL Picks and Predictions
The Las Vegas Raiders face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, August 29th at Levi's Stadium for a Week 3 NFL Preseason matchup.
The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-0 so far this preseason and are coming off a 17-16 win over the Los Angeles Rams last week. The Raiders have solely used quarterback Nathan Peterman for all eight quarters of their preseason games thus far. It looks like Peterman is going to be the guy yet again on Sunday, as coach Gruden is keeping his starting group rested and healthy for week one of the regular season. The Raiders are a team that should be on a lot of people's radars heading into the 2021 campaign. Offensively, the Raiders look strong in both the ground game and passing game. The defense looks to be revamped as well, which seemed to be the missing piece. The AFC West is one of the toughest divisions in football, so there is still a lot of uncertainty for LV this season.
The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a 15-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in their last preseason game, making San Francisco 1-1 thus far. Trey Lance went 8-14 passing for over 102 yards, two passing touchdowns, and one interception. Jimmy Garoppolo went 3/6 with 15 passing yards and an interception of his own. Expect to see both Lance and Jimmy G in this game as the 49ers have not yet made a decision as to who the starting quarterback will be for Week 1 against Detroit. Having two quarterbacks competing for the important starting job should give the 49ers an edge in this game, especially when the Raiders have made it clear that Carr and Mariota are not options.
I will take the San Francisco 49ers here, as the Raiders seem to be looking ahead to Week 1 of the regular season already. There is quite the entertaining QB battle brewing in San Fran and I expect both Lance and Garoppolo to be competitive on Sunday afternoon.
