The Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys face off on Sunday In Week 3 of the NFL preseason at AT&T Stadium..
The Jacksonville Jaguars have not looked to start this preseason and there have to be some real concerns heading into this season. In the first game of the preseason, the Jaguars lost to the Cleveland Browns 23-13, and in the last game against the New Orleans Saints, they were defeated 23-21. One big issue has been the play for Trevor Lawrence, and in the last game he completed only 14 of his 23 passes for 113 yards. In the last game, CJ Beathard completed nine of his 14 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns The team traded away Gardner Minshew so it appears that Beathard has done enough to lock up that second quarterback spot.
On the other side of this matchup is the Dallas Cowboys who have also struggled in the first couple of games of the preseason. Dallas lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-3 in the first game and in the last game against the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas lost 19-16. Garrett Gilbert, Cooper Rush, and Ben DiNucci have all been getting playing time under center for the Cowboys this preseason. Cooper Rush was the best player in the last game completing 7 of his 13 passes for 89 yards. Ben DiNucci also was able to throw for 46 yards and a touchdown. The defense hasn’t been terrible but with the offense has looked, they are going to need to be the strength in this game.
The Jaguars are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games as a favorite. The under is 5-1 in the Jaguars last six games as a favorite. The over is 5-2 in the Cowboys last seven games overall. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings played between the two teams.
Trevor Lawrence hasn’t looked good, and I don’t expect he is going to look any better in this game. There are already grumblings that players are upset at Urban Meyer, and it’s clear he has a ways to go with this offense. The Cowboys offense is going to find a way to piece together a cover of the spread. Throwing a few dollars on the money line also makes a lot of sense.
