The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Empower Field at Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos this Saturday night in NFL Preseason action.
The Los Angeles Rams dropped to 0-2 in the NFL Preseason after being defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders, 17-16, this past Saturday. The Rams trailed by a 17-10 margin late and although they scored a TD on a 16 play, 76-yard drive with just :15 seconds, the Rams couldn’t get the win as the two-point conversation failed. Leading the way for the Rams was Bryce Perkins who completed 26 of 39 passes for 208 yards, 2 TD, & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for Perkins and the Rams were J.J. Koski (8 rec, 61 yards), Landen Akers (5 rec, 49 yards), Tutu Atwell (8 rec, 46 yards), Kendall Blanton (1 rec, 9 yards, TD), & Jacob Harris (1 rec, 2 yards, TD). Leading the way for the Los Angeles backfield was the trio of Jake Funk (7 car, 56 yards), Bryce Perkins (9 rec, 41 yards), & Xavier Jones (7 car, 29 yards). Los Angeles made a major move this week to help with the loss of Cam Akins but acquiring Sony Michael from the New England Patriots.
Defensively, the Rams held Las Vegas to just 229 yards from the field and won the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for the Los Angeles defense was Ernest Jones (6 tackles), Chris Garrett (4 tackles, 1.5 sacks), & J.R. Reed (4 tackles, 1 INT).
The Denver Broncos improved to 2-0 in the NFL Preseason after defeating the Seattle Seahawks, 30-3, this past Saturday. Denver dominated Seattle on both ends of the field and had no trouble pulling away for the victory after taking a 20-0 lead with 11:24 left in the 3rd quarter. Denver got solid QB play by all three of their quarterbacks and which was led by Teddy Bridgewater who completed 9 of 11 passes for 105 yards & 1 TD). Denver did announce this week that Teddy Bridgewater will be the Broncos starter for regular season. Royce Freeman has a solid game as he led Denver in both rushing (9 car, 27 yards) & receiving yards (5 rec, 44 yards). Denver’s other top receiving threats were Jerry Jeudy (2 rec, 40 yards), Eric Saubert (2 rec, 26 yards), Shaun Beyer (1 rec, 11 yards, TD), & KJ Hamler (1 rec, 2 yards, TD). Also producing in the backfield for the Broncos was Javonte Williams (7 car, 20 yards) & Damarea Crockett (7 car, 16 yards).
Defensively, Denver held Seattle to just 250 total yards while also forcing Seattle to commit 3 turnovers. Leading the way for the Broncos defense was Parnell Motley (6 tackles), Jonathon Cooper (3 tackles, 2 sacks), & DeShawn Williams (3 tackles, 1 INT).
The Rams are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games on grass while the Broncos are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games.
Los Angeles hasn’t played basically any starter throughout the preseason and early reports look like they will continue with the gameplan in this one. This is a major spread to cover in a preseason game, however, Denver’s defense has been outstanding so far this preseason holding both the Vikings & Seahawks to just 9 combined points as I think the Denver offense will be able to continue to put up points like we have seen in both their preseason wins, I’m taking Denver to win this one by double-digits and cover this spread. Good Luck!
