The Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks this Saturday night in NFL Preseason action
The Los Angeles Chargers dropped to 1-1 in the NFL Preseason after being defeated by the San Francisco 49ers, 15-10, this past Sunday. Los Angeles struggled on the offensively side of the ball and could not fight back after the 49ers took the lead on a Travis Benjamin 16-yard TD reception midway through the 3rd quarter. Los Angeles forced 3 turnovers, however, was outgained by San Francisco by a 281-162 margin in the loss. Offensively, Los Angeles was led by QB Easton Stick who completed 10 of 14 passes for 85 yards & 1 TD. QB Chase Daniel completed 14 of 21 passes for 60 yards & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for the Chargers were Jalen Guyton (1 rec, 39 yards), KJ Hill Jr. (4 rec, 18 yards), & Tyron Johnson (4 rec, 11 yards). Leading the way for the Chargers backfield was Larry Roundtree III (8 car, 12 yards; 4 rec, 15 yards) & Joshua Kelley (7 car, 9 yards).
Defensively, Los Angeles struggled against the San Francisco rushing attack as they allowed the duo of Wayne Gallman II & JaMycal Hasty to combined for 130 rushing yards. Leading the way for the Chargers defense was Nick Niemann (8 tackles), Jessie Lemonier (4 tackles, 1 sack), Tevaughn Campbell (1 INT), & Asante Samuel Jr. (1 INT).
The Seattle Seahawks dropped to 0-2 on the preseason after being defeated by the Denver Broncos, 30-3, this past Saturday. Seattle was dominated on both ends of the field by the Broncos and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 20-0 lead early in the 3rd quarter. Offensively, Seattle’s QB’s Sean Mannion & Alex McGough combined to complete 22 of 36 passes for 176 yards & 2 INT. The top receiving threats for the Seahawks were John Ursua (3 rec, 34 yards), Cade Johnson (3 rec, 34 yards), DeeJay Dallas (3 rec, 27 yards), & Aaron Fuller (2 rec, 25 yards). Leading the way for the Seattle backfield were the duo of Alex Collins (7 car, 20 yards) & Rashaad Penny (5 car, 8 yards).
Defensively, Seattle allowed Denver to put up 264 yards and could not force a single turnover against Denver. Leading the way for the Seahawks defense was Jordyn Brooks (7 Tackles), Nick Bellore (5 tackles, 1 TFL), & Rasheem Green (3 tackles, 1 sack).
The Chargers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 15-7-2 ATS in their last 24 road games. The Seahawks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite.
Seattle’s offense has been non-existent in their first two preseason games and although Seattle should have some more of their regular offensive players, including backup Geno Smith, getting snaps, it’s hard to trust this Seahawks teams to cover anything with how they have looked on both ends of the field. Los Angeles have also had their issues on the offensive end, however, between the fact that their defense has been solid even without their regular starters and that the Seahawks allowed the Raiders & Broncos to combine for 50 points so far this preseason, I think the play here is to take Los Angeles to cover with the points. Good Luck!
