The Arizona Cardinals face the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, August 27th, at Caesars Superdome for an NFL Week 3 Preseason matchup.
The Arizona Cardinals were defeated by the defending AFC Champs in the Kansas City Chiefs last week by the score of 17-10. Quarterback Kyler Murray saw his first few snaps of the preseason but did not amount to much. Murray went 1/4 passing for only two yards, as he has made it clear before that the preseason is not necessarily his biggest priority. The Cardinals certainly struggled offensively in their loss to the Chiefs, only managing a total of 239 yards as a team. Defensively, the Cardinals had to face four different Kansas City quarterbacks in which the Cards allowed 317 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and forced two interceptions as well. The Cardinals announced that Kyler Murray is going to be out from this preseason contest against the Saints, so expect Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler to get a ton of work.
The New Orleans Saints have their #1 QB and his name is Jameis. Winston was announced the starting quarterback for week 1 of the season by the Saints over Taysom Hill after Winston had a fantastic performance last week against Jacksonville. Winston went 9/10 passing for 123 yards and two passing touchdowns to Marquez Callaway. It will be interesting to see how much time Sean Payton gives to Winston and Hill in this final preseason game, but I would expect both QBs to play. Something that the Saints' offense has to work on before the season starts is their ground game. New Orleans was held to 94 rushing yards and a few fumbles against the Ravens in Week 1 and then held to 63 total rushing yards against Jacksonville last week. Overall, the Saints' defense has done a good job containing the starting groups they have faced.
Here we have two teams that are going to be contenders in the NFC this season and have to like their chances this year. I do not expect either team to risk much in this one, and I think we see another low-scoring preseason game between two staunch defenses. I will take the under here.
