Indianapolis Colts at Detroit Lions - 8/27/21 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions face off on Friday night in Week 3 of the NFL preseason at Ford Field.
The Indianapolis Colts got some good news this week with Carson Wentz returning to practice, although he won’t be playing at all in this game. The Colts have won each of their first two games of the preseason including the last game against the Minnesota Vikings. In the last game Sam Ehlinger had some issues under center, but Jacob Eason looked good. Eason completed 16 of his 27 passes for 132 yards. In the last game the running game had a little bit of an issue getting going. The defense was strong against the Minnesota Vikings giving up only ten points, and in this game if they want to come away with the victory it’s going to be about the defense locking down early.
On the other side of this matchup is the Detroit Lions who have lost each of their first two games of the preseason. After losing the first game of the preseason against the Buffalo Bills by a point, the Lions were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-20. In the last game David Blough and Tim Boyle were the players who played under center. David Blough completed 12 of his 17 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. Blough also had two carries for 26 yards. Running back Craig Reynolds had five carries for 29 yards. In this game, the Lions are going to need the offense to get going.
The Colts are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games. The Lions are 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 games on fieldturf. The road team is 5-0 in the last five meetings played between the Colts and Lions. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings played between the two teams.
I expect both teams are going to struggle to score in this game, and especially the Colts defense is going to be strong. Look for the Colts and Lions to both finish with under 10 points, and the under is going to cash with ease.
