The Indianapolis Colts will travel to U.S. Bank Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings this Saturday night in NFL Preseason action.
The Indianapolis Colts will be looking to pick up their 2nd win of the NFL Preseason after defeating the Carolina Panthers, 21-18, this past Sunday. Indianapolis trailed by an 18-10 margin entering the 4th quarter, however, the Colts were able to tie game on a Benny LeMay 1-yard TD run and won the game on a 30-yard FG by Eddy Pineiro with just :07 seconds left in regulation. Offensively, Indianapolis got solid play by QB’s Jacob Eason & Sam Ehlinger who combined to complete 25 of 36 passes for 310 yards, 0 TD, & 12 INT. Ehlinger also showed how he can do damage with his legs as he led the Colts with 30 rushing yards. The top receiving threats for the Colts were Tarik Black (3 rec, 67 yards), Mike Strachan (3 rec, 57 yards), Dezmon Patmon (5 rec, 49 yards), & Tyler Vaughns (3 rec, 46 yards). Leading the way for the Indianapolis backfield was Benny LeMay (6 car, 26 yards, 1 TD) & Jordan Wilkins (10 car, 25 yards, 1 TD).
Defensively, Indianapolis allowed Carolina to gain 313 yards, however, limited the Panthers to just 12 first downs and forced 1 Carolina turnover. Leading the way for the Colts defense was Isaac Rochell (5 Tackles), Isaiah Kaufusi (5 Tackles, 1 TFL), & Joey Ivie (4 Tackles, 1 Sack).
The Minnesota Vikings are searching for their first win of their preseason after being defeated by the Denver Broncos, 33-6, this past Saturday. Minnesota was dominated on both ends of the field against the Broncos, bas they were outgained by Denver by a 387-235 margin and could not fight back after the Broncos took a 23-3 lead on a pick-six by Denver’s Pat Surtain. Leading the way for Vikings was RB A.J. Rose Jr. who had 100 rushing yards on 25 carries. QB’s Kellen Mond & Jake Browning were largely ineffective as they combined to complete just 11 of 26 passes for 84 yards, 0 TD, & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for the Vikings were K.J. Osborn (2 rec, 15 yards), Brandon Dillon (1 rec, 13 yards), & Ihmir Smith-Marsette (2 rec, 12 yards).
Defensviely, Minnesota had no answers for the Denver passing attack as they allowed the Broncos to put up 249 passing yards & 3 TD’s. Leading the way for the Vikings defense was Caden Sterns (6 Tackles), P.J. Locke (6 Tackles, 3 PD), & Andre Mintze (3 Tackles, 1 Sack).
The Colts are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games, however, are just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog. The Vikings are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
Minnesota is slight favorite in this game, however, it’s hard to trust this team after the effort they put up against Denver last week. Indianapolis won’t be playing many of their starters, however, I was impressed with the QB play by both Jacob Eason & Sam Ehlinger and as I think the Minnesota defense is going to struggle against, I think the play here is to take the Colts and the small points.
