The Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, August 21st for a Week 2 NFL Preseason matchup at Lumen Field.
The Denver Broncos made a statement in their first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings. Denver took down Minnesota by the final score of 33-6 on the road. The Broncos' starting quarterback, Drew Lock, had a strong outing as he completed five of seven passes for 151 yards and two passing touchdowns. Backup quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, completed seven of eight passes for 74 yards and added a passing touchdown as well. Denver held the Vikings 79 total passing yards, which is an incredible feat even for preseason. The Broncos look to have one of the strongest secondaries in the league this season, so it was no surprise to see them excel in the first week of preseason.
The Seattle Seahawks played in the first game with fans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas last week. The Seahawks lost that game in a 20-7 final score. The Seahawks did not start too many of their starters in the loss, but we can expect more starters to play longer minutes in this one. Seattle used three quarterbacks against the Raiders and each had double-digit passing attempts. Alex McGough had the strongest performance as he provided the team with its only touchdown of the day, a 43-yard passing touchdown to DeeJay Dallas. This Seahawks team is not necessarily built for preseason action, especially when Russell Wilson does not play many snaps if any at all. It will be interesting to see if Pete Carroll decides to keep his starters on the bench for the majority of this game as he did in Week 1, or if he will look for his starters to get some work in before the regular season starts. The Seahawks are not a team with a ton of depth, so it was no surprise to see them struggle against the Raiders and be the underdogs in this game with the Broncos.
I do not think the Seahawks are a strong preseason team on paper. Their backup quarterbacks are definitely below-average options and Pete Carroll does not want to overwork his guys before the season starts. I think the Broncos win this game by at least a touchdown, as this is just a team designed for the preseason.
