The Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers face off on Saturday in an NFL preseason showdown at Bank of America Field. These two have been involved with joint practices with each other this week.
The Baltimore Ravens are a strong preseason team and they have won 18 preseason games in a row. In the first game of the preseason, the Ravens were able to win 17-14. The Ravens scored eight points in the 4th quarter and that was the difference as they came away with the victory. Lamar Jackson didn’t play in the first game so it was Tyler Huntley and Trace McSorley who got the run under center. Huntley threw for 79 yards while McSorley finished with 86 yards and an interception. Huntley also rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens defense did a good job of creating turnovers, and that is going to be a key again in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Carolina Panthers who opened up their preseason against the Indianapolis Colts, and they were defeated 21-18. In that game, the Panthers gave up 11 points in the 4th quarter while they only scored three, and that led to the defeat. Sam Darnold is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Panthers, but he didn’t play in the first game. Phillip Walker threw for 161 yards and a touchdown in the first game. Will Grier completed six of his ten passes for 31 yards. If they want to win this game, the Panthers are going to need to close the game strong.
The Ravens are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games as a favorite. The Panthers are 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. The under is 6-1 in the Ravens last seven road games. The under is 5-2 in the Panthers last seven home games. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings played between the two teams.
The Ravens winning streak has been impressive, and they are going to get the job done in this game. I expect the Panthers' offense is going to be an issue in this game, and that will lead to the Ravens getting the job done. The Ravens are going to win this game and cover the spread.
