The Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers face off Saturday in a preseason NFL showdown at Lambeau Field.
The Houston Texans are one of the teams with the most question marks heading into this season. The Deshaun Watson situation is still unsettled heading into this game, but we won’t be seeing him on the field. Tyrod Taylor looks to be the Texans starting quarterback, with Jeff Driskel and Davis Mills fighting for roster spots. This is going to be a key game for Taylor, Driskel, and Mills. The Texans also have a very interesting running back battle shaping up with Phillip Lindsay and Mark Ingram both looking to have big roles on this team.
On the other side of this matchup is the Green Bay Packers who have some questions answered heading into this preseason, but there are also still some big ones that need to be answered. .The Packers have Aaron Rodgers back in the fold, but he isn’t expected to play in the preseason. Without Rodgers that means it’s going to be a lot of Jordan Love, a player who is expected to be the future of the team. The offensive line for the Packers has a lot of question marks that need to be figured out. Out wide this will be the first chance for Amari Rodgers to step on an NFL field, and he could become a key weapon for Rodgers. On defense, the Packers weren’t elite last season, and that is a spot that is going to need to be better. Linebacker Za'Darius Smith is out for this game, which is going to give some playing time for the younger guys.
The Texans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog. The Packers are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games on grass. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings played between the Texans and Packers. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings against the Packers.
I expect Love is going to find success in this game, and that will be the difference in this game. Look for Love to throw for a couple of touchdowns, and the Packers will come away with the cover of the spread.
