The Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys face off in the NFL Hall of Fame game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton Ohio. This is the opening game of the preseason, which means the NFL is finally back.
The Dallas Cowboys have some questions heading into this game, but most importantly is the health of Dak Prescott. The talk is that Dak Prescott is fine coming back from injury, but he hasn’t been practicing and it’s hard to imagine that he is going to go in this game. Without him, it’s been Garrett Gilbert getting a lot more run, and so far the talk is that he has looked impressive. Gilbert did play a bit last year for the Cowboys throwing for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Ben DiNucci and Cooper Rush should also get plenty of playing time. The Cowboys are also going to be without Amari Cooper who is out for a few more weeks. Thursday should also be the first chance for everyone to see Micah Parsons on the field in a Cowboys uniform.
On the other side of this matchup is the Pittsburgh Steelers who have high hopes for this season. The Steelers still have Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback, but this team has gotten younger, and less experienced. The offensive line has lost a lot of experience from last year, including Ramon Foster and Maurkice Pouncey. Rookie running back Najee Harris is also expected to play a big role on this team this year, and Harris should get plenty of snaps in this game. The Steelers quarterback situation should be very fun to watch play out in this game. Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins, and Joshua Dobbs are all fighting for roster spots, and this game could go a long way in deciding who makes the roster.
The over is 5-2 in the Cowboys last 7 games overall. The under is 5-2-1 in the Steelers' last 8 games as a favorite. The Steelers are 2-5 in their last seven games overall. The Cowboys are 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 games overall.
The Steelers have better quarterbacks available for this game, and the Steelers are going to find success in this game. Look for the Steelers offense to score at least 17 points and that will be enough for Pittsburgh to get the job done.
