Aaron Rodgers wants to be traded out of Green Bay, and these are 5 teams that are the most likely landing spots for the future hall-of-famer.
San Francisco 49ers
Owning the 3rd overall pick, the 49ers are in the mix to acquire Aaron Rodgers services. They have already been linked to the top 5 quarterbacks not named Trevor Lawrence in this draft class, and it is all but certain they will use their first pick on one of them. It is apparent they are interested in Rodgers, and the feeling is mutual, but the Packers have not taken the bait. However, if the recent news forces Green Bay’s hand, we could see a big move on draft night.
Las Vegas Raiders
Listed as one of three potential desired locations for Aaron Rodgers, the Raiders would make sense for the Packers. It would get him out of the conference, and Las Vegas has the draft capital to get a deal done. Jon Gruden would obviously be on board, having stated not drafting him in ’05 was one of the biggest regrets of his life. Gruden loves his guys and would throw the house at Green Bay if Rodgers became available.
Denver Broncos
Just like the Raiders, Denver is listed as a rumored choice for Aaron Rodgers. It has been known the Broncos are not happy with incumbent starter Drew Lock, and have been pursuing all options for an upgrade at the position. Jon Elway has succeeded with this formula before when Peyton Manning came to town, so you know he would be on board with a move like this. Denver has the 9th overall pick and plenty of young talent on the roster, so the ammo is there to get a deal done. Do not be shocked if Denver makes a historic deal on Thursday night.
Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagavailoa has only played one season in Miami, but his game-manger style leaves a lot to be desired. He averaged a pedestrian 192.3 yards per game in 2020 and is widely viewed as the one piece that could hold the Dolphins back from reaching the next level. An upgrade to Aaron Rodgers would push this team from playoff hopeful to legitimate contender overnight. Miami also has plenty of draft capital after making several shrewd offseason moves. Based on their available assets for trade, the obvious fit, and the beautiful weather Rodgers desires, Miami has a horse in this race.
Washington Football Team
The Football Team has been connected to many of the big-name quarterbacks this offseason. They reached out about Deshaun Watson before the legal issues, had their eye on the Russel Wilson situation in Seattle, and even showed some interest in former Jet Sam Darnold before they signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal. It is obvious they are looking to upgrade the position as aggressively as any team this offseason. There have also been reports that they are looking to trade up in the first round on Thursday, so nothing is off the table for the Football Team. Considering Washington’s head coach Ron Rivera is also a University of California alumni, Aaron Rodgers could be enticed by a Golden Bear reunion.
