The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium.
All the storylines heading into the game are about Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes going head to head. The two have faced off four times already and each player has won two of the games.
The Kansas City Chiefs had very little trouble beating the Buffalo Bills in the last game, but they did suffer a big loss with Eric Fisher suffering an Achilles injury. Protecting Patrick Mahomes is goal number one and not having Fisher is a big loss. On the season, Kansas City is averaging 29.6 points per game while their defense is giving up 22.4 points per game. The Chiefs won the last game against the Bills by 14 points, and it wouldn’t have been that close if it wasn’t for a fumble on a punt return. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a turf toe, but it didn’t seem to impact him too much against the Bills as he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns. In this game for the Chiefs, it’s all going to come down to the offense running up the score.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who come into this game with a 14-5 record overall and each of the last two games during the playoffs were on the road. The Buccaneers beat the New Orleans Saints two games ago and in the last game against the Green Bay Packers, they were able to win 31-26. The only real issue with the last game against the Packers was the way the offense played in the second half. The Buccaneers went away from the run in the second half, and Tom Brady did have some issues with turnovers. The Bucs do have some injury issues coming into this game including key secondary members Antoine Winfield Jr and Jordan Whitehead who are both looking to be questionable for this game.
The Chiefs are 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games played on grass. The Chiefs are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games overall. The over is 23-10 in the Bucs last 33 games overall. The over is 9-4 in the Bucs last 13 games as an underdog.
Tom Brady didn’t look great in the second half and I think they are going to major issues in this game. Look for the Chiefs to run up the score, The Buccaneers will have no chance to keep up. Back the Chiefs to win this game and cover the spread.
