The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills face off on Sunday in a Week 17 NFL showdown at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Miami Dolphins can clinch a playoff spot with a win in this game or with a Ravens, Browns, or Colts loss. The Dolphins looked dead and out of their last game against the Las Vegas Raiders before turning to Ryan Fitzpatrick who took advantage of some questionable decisions by Jon Gruden to lead the comeback. The Dolphins are going to start Tua Tagovailoa again in this game, but it wouldn’t be shocking if they have a short leash with him in this game. The Dolphins are going to need to pull out all the stops in this game, which could include bringing in Fitzpatrick. On the season the Dolphins are averaging 25.2 points per game while their defense is giving up 18.8 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Buffalo Bills who sit with a 12-3 record overall and this team looks like they could make a run all the way to the Super Bowl. In the last game against the Patriots, the Bills were elite on both sides of the ball and that led to the victory. Josh Allen had a strong game putting up 320 yards and four touchdowns. Allen also rushed for 35 yards. The only real question for this team has been with the defense at times and on the season they are giving up 24,3 points per game. In this game the Bills defense is going to need to step up and make life tough on Tagovailoa.
The Dolphins are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 against the AFC. The Dolphins are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games played in Week 17. The over is 6-2 in the Bills last eight against the AFC East. The Bills are 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games played in January.
If the Dolphins were starting Fitzpatrick I would feel different about this pick, but I think they are making a mistake by sending out Tua. Look for the Dolphins offense to struggle and that will lead to the Bills coming away with a win and a cover of the spread.
Shane’s Pick Bills -2.5
