The Jacksonville Jaguars face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, January 3rd at Lucas Oil Stadium for an NFL AFC South matchup.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a 41-17 loss to the Chicago Bears in their last game in Week 16 at home. The Jaguars may have their third straight game in embarrassing fashion and their 14th straight game overall, but Jacksonville did walk away with some very imperative. The Jaguars have clinched the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The New York Jets earned their second-straight win of the season and have now distanced themselves from the Jags. The Jaguars have no reason to tank any longer, as the role of spoiler against a division rival, the only team they beat this season, lies ahead. The Jaguars score 19.5 points per game and earn 344.0 total yards of offense per contest as well. The Jaguars also allow 30.9 points per game to their opponents, giving them one of the worst defenses in the entire league.
The Indianapolis Colts are coming off a heartbreaking 28-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Week 16 game. The Colts are now on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC Playoff picture. The Colts, despite being an impressive 10-5 on the season, will need a win and some help in order to make the postseason this season. The Colts snapped their three-game win streak with the loss to the Steelers in a game where the Colts led 24-7 in the third quarter. The Colts score 28.2 points per game and earn 383.0 total yards of offense per contest as well. The Colts allow 23.2 points per game and concede 350.7 total yards of offense per contest to their opponents this season.
The Colts are 14-point favorites and the total is set at 49.5. I do not see the Colts taking any chances in this game, as I expect a big and decisive victory over a team that beat them in Week 1. The Colts should have no problem at home against the worst team in the league when a playoff berth could be at stake.
