The Dallas Cowboys will travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants this Sunday afternoon in NFL action.
The Dallas Cowboys won their 3rd straight game and improved to 6-9 on the season after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 37-17, this past Sunday. Dallas had no trouble putting up offense against the Eagles defense and was able to pull away for good after a 52-yard TD reception by CeeDee Lamb gave the Cowboys a 27-17 lead with 12:26 left in the 3rd quarter. Dallas outgained Philadelphia by a 513-477 margin while also winning the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Cowboys was QB Andy Dalton who completed 22 of 30 passes for 377 yards, 3 TD, & 1 INT.
On the season, Dallas is averaging 25.1 ppg on 396.5 total yards per game (284.5 passing yds/g; 112.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Dallas is led by QB Andy Dalton who has completed 65.4% of his passes for 1,926 yards (198.9 passing yds/g), 14 TD, & 7 INT. The top receiving threats for the Cowboys have been Amari Cooper (86 rec, 1,073 yards, 5 TD), CeeDee Lamb (69 rec, 892 yards, 5 TD), Michael Gallup (55 rec, 794 yards, 5 TD), & Dalton Schultz (56 rec, 545 yards, 4 TD). Leading the way for the Dallas backfield has been the duo of Ezekiel Elliott (230 att, 937 yards, 5 TD) & Tony Pollard (96 att, 420 yards, 4 TD).
Defensively, Dallas is allowing their opponents to average 30.0 ppg on 400.5 total yards per game (239.4 passing yds/g; 161.1 rushing yds/g).
The New York Giants lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 5-10 on the season after being defeated by the Baltimore Ravens, 27-13, this past Sunday. New York once again had trouble getting anything going on the offensive end and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 20-3 margin. New York was outgained by Baltimore by a 432-269 margin and forced 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Giants was WR Sterling Shepherd who had 9 receptions for 77 yards & 1 TD.
On the season, New York is averaging 17.1 ppg on 316.7 total yards per game (207.1 passing yds/g; 109.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, New York is led by QB Daniel Jones who has completed 62.2% of his passes for 2,714 yards (240.0 passing yds/g), 9 TD, & 9 INT. Jones is also the 2nd leading rusher for the Giants with 406 yards & 1 TD on 56 carries. The top receiving threats for the Giants have been Darius Slayton (48 rec, 729 yards, 3 TD), Evan Engram (61 rec, 637 yards, TD), & Sterling Shepard (58 rec, 544 yards, 2 TD). Leading the way for the Giants backfield has been Wayne Gallman (136 att, 617 yards, 6 TD) who had done a decent job in replacing the injured Saquon Barkley who was lost early in the season due to injury.
Defensively, New York is allowing their opponents to average 22.5 ppg on 370.7 total yards per game (259.1 passing yds/g; 111.6 rushing yds/g).
The Cowboys are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall, however, are just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games. The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. NFC opponents, however, are just 8-22-1 ATS in their last 31 home games.
Somehow, despite just 11 combined wins between the Cowboys & Giants, both still have a chance to win the NFC East as if Washington loses to the Eagles, the winner of this matchup will sadly be in the playoffs. Dallas has had it rolling on the offensive end as of late, putting up 108 combined points over their last three games and despite facing a tough Giants defense on the road, I still think the Cowboys can outscore a Giants offense that has looked completely lost during their 3-game losing streak. I think this is going to be a close game, however, as Andy Dalton is looking good and that they just have three solid WR’s to attack the Giants secondary, I’m taking the Cowboys in this one to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
