The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals face off on Sunday in a Week 17 NFL showdown at Paul Brown Stadium.
For the Ravens it’s pretty simple in terms of the playoffs, if they win this game, they will be in the playoffs. When these two teams faced off earlier this season the Ravens were able to come away with a 27-3 victory.
The Ravens have been inconsistent this year but they are playing better as of late winning four games in a row. Each of the last four games the Ravens have also covered the spread. The biggest change has been the offense getting back on the right track and three of the last four games the Ravens have put up at least 34 points. In the last game against the Giants, they scored 27 points, but the defense also locked down giving up only 13 points. Lamar Jackson has been inconsistent at times, but he is playing a lot better now and on the season he has thrown for 2644 yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. On JK Dobbins has been a difference maker for the team and in the last game he had 11 rushing attempts for 77 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cincinnati Bengals who come into this game with a 4-10-1 record overall but they have won two games in a row. In the last game against the Houston Texans the offense put up 37 points and that led to a six point victory. Quarterback Brandon Allen had a big game throwing for 371 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Samaje Perine also was a big surprise rushing 13 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns. One concern heading into this game for the Bengals has to be with their defense after giving up 31 points to the Texans. In this game, if the Bengals want to find success this defense is going to need to step up because they can’t assume they can win another shootout.
Baltimore is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games against the AFC North. Baltimore is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games played in Week 17. Cincinnati is 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight games played in Week 17. The underdog is 9-4 against the spread in the last 13 meetings played between Baltimore and Cincinnati.
I think the Bengals defense is going to struggle again and that will lead to the Ravens running up the score. I also believe the Bengals are going to find success scoring and that will lead to the over cashing with ease.
