The New Orleans Saints are hoping to mirror or improve on their 2019 season. The Saints finished (13-3) during the 2019 season and took an early exit in the playoffs. The Saints will be ready to get back on the field after exiting the playoffs in the first round. Let us take a look and see who the Saints will be looking to, to guide this team to success during the 2020 season. Get NFL Predictions and Picks for Every NFL game at Pick Dawgz.
Offense
The staple in New Orleans is back for another, Drew Brees will be entering his 20th season in the league. Brees passed for 2,979 yards, while throwing 27 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions, while playing in just 11 games. Alvin Kamara the two way running back had 797 yards rushing and 533 yards receiving. The running back totaled 6 touchdowns in 14 games. Michael Thomas led the league in receptions and in receiving yards. Thomas collected 149 receptions, 1,725 yards, and 9 touchdowns. Jared Cook had a great season in his first year with New Orleans and he will be an x-factor this season.
Defense
The Saints as a team recorded 51 sacks and registered 13 receptions. Cameron Jordan is back, after causing chaos on opposing quarterbacks a year ago. Jordan recorded 15.5 sacks a season ago. Demario Davis returns, after leading the team in tackles with 111. Davis also added 4 sacks a year ago. The Saints brought back Malcolm Jenkins who spent the last 6 seasons with Philadelphia. Jenkins played his first 5 seasons in the NFL with the Saints and played his last 6 with the Eagles. The safety had 81 tackles last season. Marcus Williams returns after contributing 4 interceptions, while Marshon Lattimore had 14 passes defended as season ago.
Overview
The Saints averaged 28.6 points per game last season, while the defense allowed 21.3 per contest. The Saints offensive line allowed 25 sacks a season ago. That offensive line returns led by Terron Armstead. The Saints will without a doubt be competing to win the NFC South. New Orleans has a tough schedule this season, but their tougher games outside of the division are at home. I could see the Saints regressing in their win total due to their schedule, but should still have no issue covering this win total. The Saints have great offensive firepower, with an above average defense. New Orleans swept Tampa Bay last season, but I don’t see the Saints sweeping them this year. However, with the toughest games being at home, I’ll take over here.
